Mrs Shalini Watkinson

Dental Practitioner

I qualified from The University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in 2001 with a Distinction in Clinical Oral Subjects and a Merit in Restorative Dentistry.

I have always worked in general practice in Derbyshire and I have gained experience in all fields of general dentistry. Initially practicing in a large city center practice in Chesterfield, I joined Carole at Bamford Dental Practice in 2003.

I have a relaxed and friendly manner to help put patients at ease and I enjoy providing dentistry to patients of all ages. Having young children myself, I strongly believe in the importance of regular dental visits from a very young age to help build relationships with the children and provide important preventive advice to ensure their teeth stay clean, healthy and cavity-free.

I am committed to postgraduate education in order to ensure my patients are treated to a high standard of care and given the best possible treatment options. I completed a 1 year postgraduate course in all aspects of restorative dentistry at a specialist referral practice in Manchester City center.

I enjoy working with all the staff at Bamford Dental Practice and I feel very fortunate to be supported by our professional friendly and caring team. In 2011 I became a partner at Bamford Dental Practice with Carole and Andrew and I look forward to building on the success of our well respected practice.

Outside of work I am kept very busy by my two young girls and the challenges and new experiences that being a parent brings! I do try to stay fit and when I am not running around after the girls I play netball and compete weekly in the Sheffield Ladies Netball league.

Mr Andrew Preston

Dental Practitioner

I qualified from The University of Sheffield in 2001, originally working in an NHS practice in Rotherham before moving to a wholly private city centre practice in Leeds.

In 2008, fed up of the commute from Sheffield, I joined Bamford Dental Practice. Although village life was somewhat different to the middle of a large city, the practice was every bit as forward thinking with a much more pleasant 15 minute drive to work.

In 2011 I became a partner at Bamford and have enjoyed building on the success of the practice, whilst thoroughly enjoying dentistry in this family and community oriented practice. The fantastic staff and friendly patients make working in Bamford something to smile about.

When not at work I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my wife and two young boys. I also like nothing better after work than a run out in to the Peak District and I travel across the country to compete in orienteering and fell races.

Mr Dominic Smithers

Associate Dentist

Dentistry has been a part of my life for nearly 10 years now. I initially qualified as a Dental Hygiene and Therapist in 2012 and have worked in practices over Sheffield in many different settings.

In 2013 I went back to Dental school and qualified as a Dentist with Honours.

I have particular interests in restorative dentistry, particularly in the use of resin composites (white fillings). I also have a passion for oral surgery.

This exciting career has given me the opportunity to do charity work abroad which I take a great deal of pride in. I have been lucky enough to travel to countries such as Burundi (Africa) and Nepal to treat many patients who do not have the benefit of access to quality healthcare.

I enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in surgery and I will always go the extra mile to ensure my patients are comfortable, happy and fully understand all the options they have with regards to their dental care.

In my free time I enjoy cooking and mountain biking in the peak district and North Wales

Mrs Rebecca Chapman

Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist

We have a preventative approach to the care that we provide and may include the services of our hygienist/ therapist into your treatment plan.

She is available to see patients who may have more severe gum problems such as gum disease and can help to treat and maintain the oral health of such patients as well as preventing further disease. She can provide fillings in children and adults under the prescrption of the dentist.
