Why did you decide to join brighterkind?

I was head hunted and once I met with the regional manager I knew I would like to work with her.

What one thing do you enjoy most about your job?

Interacting with the residents and being a part of the team that I work with.

Are you a nurse?

I was trained in both mental health and learning disability. I retired from nursing two years ago.

Why did you get into nursing?

My mother was a nursery nurse and I always, from the age of about 7, wanted to be a nurse.

Key qualifications and experience:

RMN - mental health RNLD - learning diabilities Diploma in health service management Recently became a Fellow of International Institute of Organisational, Psychological Medicine Former Community Services manager in the NHS Former Hospital Director for Mental Health Services Former CEO for Forensic secure services Management Consultant for a charity focusing on Management of change and governance

What was a defining moment for you?

I became a Cadet Nurse to a psychiatric hospital at the age of 16 and loved it, so went into psychiatry rather than general nursing.

I worked in NHS and Independent and charitable sector, both in England, USA and India

High quality Care and ensuring that nurses gain a good training.

What do you feel is your biggest achievement?

Raising money and building a mountain bike trail in memory of my late son.
