Staff

The Trust believes that staff training enables personal development and achievement of individual potential, thus ensuring the highest standards of care delivery.  This underlines our commitment to the Investors in People standards.

We believe in providing the highest quality service possible for all of our residents.  We aim to create a relaxed, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere in the home, where residents are treated with respect, dignity and compassion by a well-trained, motivated and professionally led staff group aware of its legal, ethical and moral duties.

To that end, in addition to statutory training, we ensure that our staff at all levels, both care and non-care, have the opportunity to undertake a wide range of courses focused on the needs of our residents.  We also work closely with other experts (such as Age UK and the Alzheimer’s Society) to ensure that our training is relevant and up to date.

Quality is assured by assessment and accreditation of our training courses by external organisations and our Care Quality team regularly audit homes to ensure that training theory is translated into good practice.

Mrs Claire Ashmore

Care Leader

Claire started working for OSJCT in August 1992, firstly working as a kitchen assistant but after a few months she decided she would like to work as a Carer. Claire started in care as a relief carer and after a few years she progressed to Care Leader and achieved her Level 2 and 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care to become a Care Leader.

Claire knows that some days can be challenging, rewarding and never the same but that is what she loves about her job, no two days are the same. For Claire, it feels great when you can overcome a challenge and you can make a difference in your resident's life. She find's it very interesting talking to the residents and listening to their life stories and what they have achieved in their lives.

Over the years Claire has had a lot of fun doing many fund raising and sponsored activities for Beckside from a tandem skydive, sponsored walks and dressing up in a variety of costumes to entertain the residents with shows organised at the home !

When she is not working Claire loves to travel abroad and experience the different cultures and foods of the countries she is visiting. Claire also likes to relax doing jigsaw puzzles or reading a good book.

Mrs Sue Gill

Head Housekeeper

Sue is the Head Housekeeper at Beckside and has worked in the care industry for seven years , five of which have been at Beckside where she achieved her NVQ 3 in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership.

Sue's day is varied and she works hard with her team to ensure that the day to day running and cleaning of the home is adhered too, the most exciting part for her is when visitors say positive things about the home.

After many years of working as a Sales Manager both in fitness and footwear, Sue decided she wanted to take on another challenge so trained and went to study as a Therapeutic Counsellor where she gained her Diploma, along side other qualifications linked with counselling.

Ms Lindsay Pybus

Activities CoOrdinator

Lindsay started at Beckside as a Carer, most of the staff and residents have nicknamed her ‘Lindsay Lips’ because of the bright red lipstick she wears.

Lindsay is a vibrant bubbly member of the Beckside family and when the opportunity arose for Lindsay to assist within the Activities Co-ordinator’s role, this seemed like the ideal opportunity for Lindsay who has a great rapport with our residents. She loves to sing around the home, which brings a smile to everyone’s face. Lindsay has great ideas for different activities, from a sports day between residents and staff, a social club within the home to arts and crafts, games and many more. Lindsay encourages all residents to participate in the activities but is also considerate and mindful if they decline.

Lindsay is married with 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Lindsay spends a lot of her time with family but also enjoys walking her two beloved dogs
