Rifat Asghar is an Advanced Practitioner and provides a complimentary service to our GPs, enabling patients to be seen without needing to see a GP first. Rifat will assess, diagnose, treat and refer appropriately. She can also prescribe and amend medication .Rifat can also give advice on chronic disease conditions. She works alongside Dr Rashid in our Level 2 Diabetes clinic. Rifat speaks Urdu and Punjabi.

Anne-Marie Mitchell is the Business Practice Manager responsible for the business and strategic aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide high quality patient care, HR, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment. She supports the GPs and other medical professionals in delivering services and also helps to improve services to enhance patient care and satisfaction.

Babra is our Business Services Manager and works alongside our GP partners and Practice Manager to assist in the running of Picton Medical Centre. She is responsible for the staff rotas and overseeing the reception staff to ensure they work to the practice policies and procedures. Babra is also our formal complaint’s manager.

There is a huge behind the scenes administration team, from secretaries, to systems managers, data quality and senior administrators, prescription clerks, appointments booking clerks, patient engagement leads  who all work together to provide you with the best service we can.

Please ask at reception if you need an appointment with our asthma nurse.
Patients with asthma will be called routinely for review

Our Health Visitors hold weekly clinics at our surgery. please ask reception to book an appointment for you or your child. The sessions are held on a Thursday 1pm to 3 pm at Whetley MC, 2 Saplin Street BD8 9DW .

Please make sure your child is up to date with all their vaccines.
You will recieve appointments telling you which vaccines and due and when to attend for them.

If you suffer from COPD (Chronic Obstrucive Pulmonary Disease) youwill be called in to see the health care assistant and the practice nurse, to monitor your condition and help you manage it.

If you need a blood test our health care assistants will do these for you or we may ask you to attend the phlebomomy department at the BRI.

If you want to stop smoking please make an appointment to see our smoking cessation workers. they will advise you and support you through the stopping smoking process.
