I trained in Nottingham in 1997, and I have worked in Lincoln and Birmingham doing Hospital Medicine before changing my mind and starting on a career path towards General Practice and the Black Country. I did my GP training at Sandwell and Dudley hospitals before starting as a registrar at Regis Medical Centre. I have remained here ever since and am now a partner. I have developed a clinical interest in depression and mental well-being and have a specialist qualification in substance misuse treatment. Outside work my time is spent looking after my 2 young children and when time permits watching cricket, playing golf and holidaying at Centreparcs.

Anticoagulant monitoring and dosing - provided in-houseWe are not providing any new appointment for new referrals as this is being provided by Sandwell anticoagulation service at Regis Medical centre on Mondays.
We are still providing this service for existing patients on Thursday afternoon. If you are not able to attend your appointment for any reason please make sure that you speak to a member of INR nurse.

Asthma Clinic - Asthma Clinic
Nurse led clinic with Practice Nurse Davinia George, Michaela Hinton and Claire Downing. Our aim is to help you to understand your condition and manage it effectively. We will call you for an annual review but will also see you at other times if your condition is difficult to manage.

Baby clinic with health visitor - Well Baby Clinic There is a Well Baby clinic on Thursdays between 2.00 – 3.30pm at Regis Medical Centre – no appointments necessary.
All babies are enrolled into the Child Health Surveillance programme and are seen regularly for health checks by the Health Visitors.
Childhood immunisations are by appointment with practice nurses. After completing initial course of immunisation, you will be sent a reminder for booster vaccinations.
This is a nurse led clinic with Practice Nurse Michaela Hinton and Davinia George. People who suffer from COPD should have an annual review and health check. You will be offered an appointment by a letter or telephone. Apart from annual review, the aim of this clinic is to provide education about the condition and how well to look after your self. If you are not able to attend the appointment for any reason, you should cancel well in advance so that it can be offered to someone else. We also do diagnostic lung function tests.
You can also book an appointment in this clinic if you feel that you condition is deteriorating or you can nurse for advice.

Dressings clinic (nurse led) - Leg UlcersLeg ulcer clinic is run by Practice nurse in the treatment room. Please book an appointment in the treatment room if you develop a leg ulcer via main surgery number. The Nurse will assess your ulcer for dressings and further tests may be organised.
Alcohol
Regis Medical Centre would like to encourage people who do drink alcohol to do so within safe limits. If you feel that you have you have a problem with alcohol, we would like to help. You can be referred to local services for advice about your drinking and ongoing support if you wish to cut down. Please ask any doctor or nurse about this service.
Drug Misuse Services
Regis Medical Centre would like to help those patients who have a problem with using drugs. We currently treat approximately 30 individuals at the surgery who have had problems with heroin use. We have a drugs worker who visits the surgery weekly. If you want help, book to see Dr Padley and discuss matters confidentially.

Learning disability health checkLong-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC - eg IUD or implant)
Please book an appointment in Sexual health clinic via reception to discuss different options of contraception. If you require an IUD (coil) for contraception, you will be required to sign a consent form and arrange an appropriate appointment to insert an IUD. Please make sure that you return for 6 weeks check following fitting of the IUD.

Obesity management clinic - Weight Management ClinicThis clinic is run by one of the nursing team member. Access is by invitation only or by direct referral from one of the doctors or nurses. You will be offered 3 appointments for assessment and advice following that you will be discharged from the clinic.

This service is provided at Regis Medical Centre after discussion with a doctor who will refer you to the counselling service. You will receive a letter directly from counselling service for an appointment. Please make sure that you follow the instructions on the letter to confirm your appointment.

Smoking cessation clinicRegis medical centre would like to encourage all smokers to consider giving up. The practice offers a smoking cessation clinic which runs on Monday morning between 9am and 1pm. It is run by Cathy Sykes one of our experienced nursing team with training in smoking cessation. First appointments lasts 30 minutes with further follow up tailored to your personal need. The clinic can provide prescriptions and advice regarding stop smoking aids e.g., nicotine replacement therapy as well as medical treatments such as zyban and champix. Appointments can be booked directly by speaking to reception.

Travel health with yellow fever - Travel Health and ImmunisationsWE do not provide yellow fever vaccination.
Travel health without yellow fever - Travel Health and Travel VaccinationsPatients need to collect forms from reception at least 6—8 weeks before the date of expected travel. Receptionist will allocate an appointment with the Practice Nurses when you return the completed form. The form will be assessed by the Practice nurse and if you do not require any travel vaccination, the practice nurse will contact you and cancel you appointment. It is most important that these instructions are followed to ensure patients complete their full course of vacations prior to travel. Please note that not all travel vaccinations are free of charge.
WE do not provide yellow fever vaccination.
