Asthma Clinic - Chronic Disease Clinics and Health PromotionThe Practice Nurses run clinics for continuous care of patients suffering from chronic diseases which include Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Asthma. They offer advice on a wide variety of health matters and also give advice such as diet, exercise, healthy lifestyle and travel advice. Our Practice Nurses also offer smoking cessation advice for patients with a chronic disease.
Child health and development - Child Health Surveillance (CHS)We have appointments for 8 week checks and immunisations which can be fitted in with our GP/Practice Nurse at a time to suit during our opening hours.
Learning disability health check - Learning Disabilities Health checksOur practice nurse provides specialist appointments to conduct learning disabilities reviews, these an be booked at a time to suit, or when it is convenient for someone to accompany you to your appointment.
Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC - eg IUD or implant) - Family PlanningOur Practice Nurse Diane administers the Implanon which is a long-acting contraceptive method. This form of contraception should be discussed with the GP or Practice Nurse prior to booking in. Our Practice Nurses also do appointments for the contraceptive injection and the contraceptive pill.
Minor surgery (e.g. removal of moles and skin lesions) - provided in-house - Minor SurgeryDr Kyffin holds appointments for minor surgery procedures including the removal of minor skin lesions, ingrowing toenails and joint injections. The minor operative procedures are carried out at the practice.
Travel health with yellow feverOur Practice Nurses offer appointments for travel health consultations and travel vaccines. If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the Practice Nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
It is important to make your travel health appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel. The practice stocks routine vaccines, however some vaccines may need to be specially ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Please also note there may be a charge for certain vaccines or medications for travel.
