We offer the full range of immunisations and strongly recommend that all children are immunised. If you are concerned about vaccinations, please discuss this with the Health Visitor, Nurse or Doctor, who will give you informed advice. Annual flu vaccinations are available for all patients over 65 and those at risk.
This year, two and three year olds are being offered a vaccine against flu which is given as nasal spray up each nostril. This is the first age group to get the vaccine as part of a programme that aims to protect all children aged two to sixteen years.
Flu can be a very unpleasant illness in children causing fever, stuffy nose, dry cough, sore throat, aching muscles and joints and extreme tiredness, often lasting for several days. Some children can also get a very high fever, sometimes without the usual flu symptoms and may need to go to hospital for treatment. Complications of flu can include bronchitis, pneumonia and a painful ear infection - these may be very severe.
Led by our nursing team, our Healthcare Assistants work alongside patients diagnosed with diabetes. This enables the patient to be in control and pro-active with their condition and the clinic offers advice and annual health appointments.
