 The General Dental Council (GDC) is the organisation which regulates dentists and dental care professionals in the United Kingdom. They regulate:

and dental care professionals:

 • clinical dental technicians

• dental hygienists

• dental nurses

• dental technicians

• dental therapists

• orthodontic therapists

The GDC keep up to date registers of the dentists and dental care professionals. To join the register they need to meet the professional standards they set. Anybody who wants to work in the UK as a dentist or dental care professional must be registered with the GDC.
