CONTRACEPTIVE IUD (INTRA-UTERINE DEVICE / COIL) Dr Kilner is able to provide a friendly and personal contraceptive IUD service whereby an IUD (a small plastic device covered with copper) or an IUS (containing hormone rather than copper) is placed in the womb to act as a very effective contraceptive. These devices last for at least 5 years & are an excellent form of long term Contraceptive. The IUS is also very effective in preventing heavy periods. If you would like to know more about this service please feel free to make an appointment with Dr Kilner.

We have our own Phlebotomist, Carla Roque, who has a clinic everyday. However, you may be asked by a doctor to have a blood test at a hospital. If so, please go to St Thomas’ Hospital between 8.30 - 6pm. Just turn up with your request form.

Our counsellor works at the practice on Fridays. Referrals can be made via a GP, or in some cases patients may refer themselves for treatment, subject to suitability.

Following the government ban on smoking in public places which came into place last July there are still many people who are struggling to give up smoking. If you are one of those people we have good news for you. Nurse Sarah Jagger can help you quit as a smoker by booking you into their Smoking Cessation Clinic. If you are Portuguese speaking further help is also at hand with Marisa Brito who not only speaks Portuguese fluently but has been trained specifically to support all our patients and can provide advice and information on quitting smoking on request.

If you wish to discuss contraception or a sexual health matter, please make an appointment to see the nurse. This service is available to under 16s and is completely confidential. If you have a problem which you are unable to discuss with your parents or guardian, arrangements can be made for you to be seen at the surgery without them. Please explain your situation to the receptionists and they will make arrangements for you.
