Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Practice Manager

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Available with the Practice Nurse to monitor and control your asthma symptoms. Patients will be invited by letter to attend the respiratory clinic when their next appointment is due. Appointments may be booked Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday with Amy our Practice Nurse.

Baby clinic is held every Wednesday 10:00am-14:00pm. At the clinic babies and children receive their immunisatiosn and checks of growth and development. However, you may bring any child under shool age to the baby clinic if you have any worries. if you think your child may be infections (eg. a cough, cold or rash), then please bring your child to an ordinary surgry rather than the Baby Clinic, to avoid spreading infections to well babies.

The practice nurse and health care assistant is able to conduct your diabetes review. Patient would normally be contacted when their diabetic review is due and booked din to see the Health care assistant or practice nurse. We would ideally prefer if the patient has a blood test prior to their full review appointment.

Sometimes patient may be discharged from hospital and advised to visit the GP in a certain number of days to have a wound checked or dressing changed, Please book an appointment in advance if this is the case. Alternatively the practice nurse is able to provide in house dressing changes and wound check.

Our Health Care Assistant Dawn and Practice nurse Angela are experienced in taking bloods for investigation. Blood tests are ONLY undertaken at the request of a doctor or nurse.

We are able to offer you counselling advice via Healthy Minds. This is a self referral service which the doctor will advise you of if they feel you require this service, The contact details for this service can be obtained at reception. A Councillor would normally be able to arrange to see you at the surgery.

Our smoking cessation clinic is conducted by our qualified smoking cessation Health Care Assistant Dawn. Usually the doctor will refer a patient to this service however if you want to QUIT smoking please feel free to book an appointment with our health care assistant. The first appointment will usually last about 30 minutes.

The practice nurse is able to offer any travel advise you may have. We are also able to offer you the relevant vaccinations if you are traveling abroad. Please book an appointment with the Practice Number if you require this service.
