Asthma reviews, COPD reviews and Spirometry testing take place on a Thursday at both sites.

Apsley Surgery offers weekly childhood immunisations with one of the Nursing team on a Tuesday afternoon at Cobridge

Spirometry clinics can last up to 45 minutes and are usually booked on a Wednesday afternoon. However, these appointments can be rearranged at other times to suit.

Apsley Surgery is one of a handful of GP surgeries in Stoke-on-Trent that work the diabetic specialist nurses and the team of consultants from the local hospital to initiate patients onto Byetta in practice instead of having to go to the hospital to receive this specialist treatment. The clinics are run with Sister Rushton and Dr Sri who both specialize in diabetes and they will refer patients into the clinic to be see if they are suitable candidates for this service.

Dr Zulfiker can perform Minor Operations including joint injections from the main site at Cobridge. These tend to work on a waiting list for Tuesday morning appointments.

For patients who adopt a new healthy diet regime we offer a weight management clinic with a member of the nursing team. For anti obesity medications patients must attend the weight clinic on a regular basis. If they don't their prescription will be withdrawn.

Our Health Care Support Workers do all of the bloods in Practice. Blood tests must be requested by a doctor or Practice Nurse for the chronic disease patients.

There are no set times for smoking cessation clinics. Appointments are added at a convenient time for the patient. The first smoking cessation appointment lasts half an hour  and issues of cravings and the type of therapy required are discussed at considerable length.

Travel advice is readily available for all patients going abroad. Please note that any immunisations that need to be organised must be given at least 6 weeks prior to you leaving to ensure that you are suitably covered. If you are unsure if you require vaccinations please make an appointment with the Practice Nurse who can discuss this further with you.
