Practice Midwife

The Practice Midwife can help with all aspects of pregnancy and the postnatal period.  Messages can be left either by ringing the surgery or the labour ward of Kettering Maternity Unit.

Health Visiting Team

Health Visitor

The Health Visiting Team give support to families with children under the age of 5 years.  They are able to advise on infant feeding, child growth and development, immunisations and the family's emotional health.  In addition they are responsible for the safeguarding of pre-school children. The Health Visiting Team are no longer based at the surgery.  They can be contacted by telephoning 0300 1111 022.

Mr Abel is responsible for the organisational and administrative side of the Practice.  He is available to receive any comments, compliments or complaints concerning any aspect of patient services.

We directly employ 30 staff of our own which includes receptionists, secretaries, computer operators and nurses.

Services

These clinics are run by our Practice Nurses and are by appointment only.  Everyone with asthma should ensure they are seen once a year for a routine check.

Our Health Visitors run a programme for development checks.  Appointments are arranged by the Health Visitors.

Our nurses carry out childhood immunisations.  Appointments are sent by post but if you are unable to attend, please telephone to cancel and another appointment will be sent to you.  The doctors feel it is particularly important that all children should have their immunisations unless there is good medical reason why they should not be given.  If you have any doubts one of the nurses or Doctors will discuss these with you.

These clinics are run by our Practice Nurses and are by appointment only. Everyone with diabetes should ensure they are seen once a year for a routine check.

Advice regarding contraception is available with our family planning nurses. Please be aware that you will need to see the nurse every six months to review your prescription for the contraception pill

Our Nursing Team are trained to treat many minor injuries, which can save you valuable time, money and a trip to A&E. Minor injuries that we can deal with at the surgery include: sprains and bruises to hands, feet and joints, minor burns and scalds, minor facial and head injuries, minor cuts that may need stitches,animal and insect bites, minor injuries resulting from falls.

The Practice undertakes minor surgery to help save long waits for hospital treatment. Suitable procedures include removal of warts, moles, skin lesions etc. Your doctor will be pleased to discuss any enquiry you may have.

Advice and medication (including nicotine replacement therapy) is provided at the Practice. 
If you are serious about giving up smoking, please telephone to arrange an appointment with a smoking cessation advisor.

The Practice Nurses will be pleased to offer advice on general health matters for patients who intend to travel abroad.  Information is available for recommended vaccinations, all of which can be arranged at the surgery (with the exception of Yellow Fever).  Please ask at Reception for a Foreign Travel Form and return it at least six weeks prior to travel.  Our Receptionists will advise you on when to contact us for further advice or to arrange an appointment if required.  This form can also be downloaded from our website.
Please note: Not all vaccinations are available on the NHS.  Anti-malarial are issued on a private prescription.
