The Village Surgery has an "Urgent Care Clinician". Belinda, she is here to help improve our services for emergency 'on the day' appointments. (children under 5 year old and Pregnant woman will still be referred to the Doctor on call) This is what will happen when you ring in 'on the day' at 8.30 in the morning for an Emergency Appointment:

1. Belinda has some of her own appointments which reception are able to book and also apointment slots to book so she can ring book appointments

2. Belinda will go through the phone list and contact patients to ascertain the problem, booking appointments with appropriate members of staff including herself.

3.In order for Belinda to prioritise effectively you may be asked by reception for a brief description of the problem.

The Urgent Care Clinician can deal will a variety of minor ailments including the following:Chest Infections, Rashes/Skin problem, Minor Injuries/Illnesses. Sore throats, eye problems

Lesley is part of the Practice Nursing team, she does diabetic reviews, baby injections, INR checks, dressings, dopplers, injections,ear syringing.

(Patients Over 5 Years of Age only ) Deals with: Hay Fever, Sore Throat, Coughs and Colds, Earache, Chest Infection, Shortness of Breath, Asthma acute attack/ or Review, COPD attack or Review,Urine Infection/Cystitis, Skin Infections, Impetigo, Scabies, Head Lice, Rashes, Thrush, Eye Infections, in growing infected toe nails, Bites, Abrasions, Lacerations,New Back Pain, Minor Injury, Diarrhoea/Sickness, Abominal Pain, Blood Pressure problems,Pill check (not new requests), Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) review, Stroke review, Travel advice, Raised Cholesterol advice, Obesity/Diet advice Diabetes review (not insulin dependant)

1. Belinda has some of her own appointments which reception are able to book along with telephone slots to book so she can ring the patient back.
2. Belinda will go through the phone list and Triage the patients, booking appointments with appropriate members of staff including herself
3.In order for Belinda to prioritise effectively you may be asked by reception for a brief description of the problem
The Emergency Care Clinician can deal will a variety of minor ailments including the following:
Infections
Rashes/Skin problems
Emergency Contraception
Minor Injuries/illnesses

Referral by GP prior to appointment being offered

This service requires a referral by your GP

Please note you will be asked to collect,complete and return a travel vaccination form from reception at least 6 weeks before you travel, an appointment will then be made. If a late availablility holiday is booked we may not be able to accomodate your request and you may have to go to the Masta clinic in Nottingham where a fee is charged for this service.
