Dr Mounsey trained at Leeds School of Medicine, qualifying in 1996.  She trained as a GP in the Halifax/Huddersfield area qualifying as a GP in 2000.  She has worked at the Practice since 2001 and became a Partner at the Practice in 2003.  Dr Mounsey is contraception and sexual health lead for the Practice holding Faculty qualification for insertion/removal of both coils and implants.  Her main areas of interest are mental health issues and womens' health and she leads the Patient Reference Group. Dr Mounsey is also a director of a local federation of GP practices in Huddersfield.

Dr Julia F. Thomas

General Practitioner

Dr Thomas trained at Leeds School of Medicine, qualifying in 1999. She initially started training in surgery before spending many years working in A&E. She retrained as a GP in Harrogate and has worked in practices in the Knaresborough and Harrogate area and more recently in Bradford. She became a Partner at the Practice in April 2018. She works one day a week as a Dermatology GPwSI in Bradford and also has an interest in mental health. She is vice chair of the Yorkshire Faculty of the RCGP and is also the local RCGP Ambassador for the GP Forward View.

Dr Moffitt trained in Birmingham, qualifying in 1983. She trained as a GP in Airedale, qualifying in 1987. She has worked as a part time Salaried GP since 1996. She has an interest in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Tuberculosis, Blood Borne Infections (Hepatitis and HIV) and mental health issues. She is the practice lead for in-house Tuberculosis screening and sits on the Regional Tuberculosis Control Board.

Dr Andrew Snowden

General Practitioner

Dr Snowden studied Medicine at Leeds Medical School and also took a degree in Healthcare Ethics during his studies. He qualified as a doctor in 2009 and trained as a GP in the Halifax/Huddersfield area, qualifying in 2014. He started working at The University Health Centre shortly afterwards. His main interests are in mental health and in training, for which he is the lead for medical students from he University of Leeds. He hopes to teach and mentor GP's in training in the future.  He is the lead for Chronic Disease Management.  Dr Snowden became an Associate Partner in July 2018.

Julie is a qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1981 after attending Tameside General Hospital. In 1984, she qualified as a Registered Midwife after attending Withington Hospital in Manchester. She started working in the Practice in 1996 as a Practice Nurse. She qualified as a Extended and Supplementary Nurse Prescriber in 2004 and gained a Master of Science Nurse Practitioner (Primary Care) in 2007.

Mrs Katie Crabtree

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Katie trained at Huddersfield University and qualified in 2004. She has worked in various roles such as Accident and Emergency, nursing on cruiseships and Walk in Centres. She is a nurse prescriber and can treat patients with minor illnesses and injuries. Katie is a recently qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Miss Alix Ewen

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Alix studied nursing at Leeds University and qualified as a registered Nurse in 2000. She has a varied experience in Surgical Nursing, Accident and Emergency care and Minor Injury Units. She is qualified Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) and in 2014 qualified as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) through the University of Huddersfield, this allows her to see a wider range of acute and chronic conditions. Alix is also a Independent Nurse Prescriber. She joined the Practice in 2016.

Nurse Samantha McNeely

Practice Nurse

Samantha studied Adult Nursing at the University of Huddersfield and qualified in 2005. She has a background in Accident and Emergency care which is where she started her nursing career until 2010. Samantha joined the practice in 2008 as a Junior Practice Nurse. She has done Diploma's in Contraception and Sexual Health, Cytology, Asthma, Minor Injury Illness and Supporting Learning In Practice. In 2016, she became a Nurse Prescriber after completing a Diploma in Independent and Supplementary Prescribing and is now our Nurse Manager.  Samantha has recently gained the title of Queen's Nurse and was the initiator of the Play Safe Stay Safe campaign gaining funding from the Queen's Nursing Institute for this campaign.

Kate trained at Huddersfield School of Nursing, and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1987. She has worked at the Practice since March 2000. She has done Diploma's in Contraception, Asthma and Cytology. She has qualifications in Sexual Health and holds a Faculty qualification in removal/insertion of Contraceptive Implants. In 2011 she became a Nurse Prescriber after completing a Diploma in Independent and Supplementary Prescribing. She is an experienced Nurse in all areas of Practice Nursing, having worked in General Practice for 17 years.

This service requires a referral by your GP

If you are required to have a blood test, you can make an appointment with the Phlebotomist, on a Wednesday morning, here at the surgery.

Alternatively, you can collect your blood test form from reception and have your blood taken at the hospital; Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (HRI).

Opening Times: 8am – 5pm (Last admission for bloods is at 4:50pm)
8am – 11.30 am is very busy.
12pm – 2pm is quiet.
2pm – 5pm is fairly busy.
There is a late night service every Wednesday 5 – 6.30pm.
This service is by appointment only. Patients can make an appointment by telephoning 01484 342552.
