Joint injections
Steroid injections are administered at our practices via GP referral. We currently have two GP Partners who are able to offer this service. Injections can be given in the knee, shoulder, wrist (carpel tunnel syndrome), elbow, trigger finger, heels, ankles feet, toes and trochanteric bursa (hip). Patients accessing this service need to have been in consultation with one of our GP's in the first instance.
Learning disability health checkLong-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC - eg IUD or implant) - IUDs
Minor surgery (e.g. removal of moles and skin lesions) - provided in-house - Minor Surgery
Phlebotomy - Blood Tests
Blood tests can be booked with our Health Care Assistant Sharon. We have taken steps to increase our clinics for a short period and will try our best to accommodate appointments for samples requested by our own GP’s as part of patient investigations and care management. In the event that we are unable to meet your needs we kindly ask that you have the samples taken at the Queens Hospital Burton or Hill Street Medical Centre (details of the clinics are at Reception). * blood tests must be requested by our GP or Nursing team in the first instance*
Travel health without yellow feverThe travel vaccinations are administered by our practice nurse team. Patients who are planning to travel overseas to more exotic destinations, whether on business or pleasure complete a Travel Questionnaire (these can be collected from the practice or completed online). This will help the practice nurse ascertain what vaccinations you will require for your trip and give you the best possible advice.
You must provide us with your completed questionnaires at least 6 weeks in advance of travel to avoid disappointment.
You can also obtain travel vaccination advice through www.travelhealthpro.org.uk
There is a charge for some travel immunisations and prescriptions not provided under the NHS; a list of these charges is available from our Reception Team.
There is currently a National Shortage of Pneumovax and Hepatitis B vaccines. Unfortunately this is out of our control and consequently not available.
