Dr John Burnett
General Practitioner
Dr Burnett graduated from St Andrews University in 1989 and completed his medical training at Manchester University in 1992.
He then undertook a vocational training scheme in General Practice in East Cumbria before spending a number of years rotating through hospital specialites both in the UK and abroad.
Dr Burnett is a GP Trainer and represents Priorslegh alongside Dr Ward at the East Cheshire Consoritum Meetings. He also a GP liason for the Priorslegh Patient Participation Group.
Dr Burnett can provide a wide range of steroid injections for joint and soft tissue problems.

Dr David Ward
General Practitioner
Dr Ward graduated from Liverpool University in 1998. Before becoming a GP he worked extensively in hospital medicine and became a Member of a the Royal College of Physicians.
In 2005 he joined Priorslegh Medical Practice as a registrar and was made a partner in 2007, following a year of working at Liverpool University.
Currently Dr Ward is the Diabetic Lead Doctor at the practice. He also helps to train the medical students, who you may well see sitting in with him at various times. He hopes to become a GP Registrar Trainer soon. He, along with Dr Burnett, represents the practice at the East Cheshire Consortium meetings. Dr Ward is interested in IT and has recently developed a new diabetes website as well as redesigning the practice website. He has also done some work at Consortium level around IT regionally.

Dr Gareth Morelli

Dr Hannah Connell

Dr Fiona Ellison-Smith
General Practitioner
Dr Ellison-Smith graduated from the University of Leeds in 2009. She then worked in West and Mid Yorkshire until 2014 when she returned to Cheshire as a GP, initially gaining experience working as a locum GP. She joined the team at Priorslegh Medical Centre in March 2015.
Her interests include Family Planning and Women’s Health and she is trained to fit contraceptive coils and implants. She also undertakes 6-8 week baby checks and is involved with teaching medical students.

Sarah Barber
Healthcare Assistant
Sarah Barber qualified as a Phlebotomist in 2006 and worked at a previous practice for 4 years before moving to Priorslegh Medical Practice in 2010 where she went on to gain her NVQ Level 2. Sarah achieved her portfolio of qualifications through Manchester University and went on to acquire her HCA Level 3 in 2010.
Sarah assists Dr David Ward and Sister Michelle Jennings in the diabetes clinics by performing routine blood tests, urine tests and blood pressure readings, and also basic neuropathy foot screening, following training from the lead diabetes podiatrist. In addition she assists Dr Gareth Morelli with his Minor Surgery Clinic and with Drs Goodger, Guillem, Ellison-Smith and Sr Bell within the Contraceptive IUD/IUS and Implant clinics.
Sarah also performs 24 hour Blood Pressure Monitors, ECGs and also Spirometry Lung Function Tests having undergone ARTP Spirometry training at Wythenshawe Hospital. She is able to perform routine health checks, blood tests, blood pressure measurements and Over 65 Flu injections. She may also be asked to apply simple dressings under the direction of a Registered Nurse or GP.
Sarah also received training from the local lead podiatrist which has enabled her to perform a Toe Nail Cutting Service (for patients with no underlying foot problems) for Priorslegh Medical Centre.

Sister Amanda Bell
Nurse Practitioner
Amanda is a Registered General Nurse with almost 30 years experience. She initially worked as an Accident Emergency Nurse, then moved to General Practice in 1995. As a Practice Nurse she gained qualifications as a Specialist Practitioner in Practice Nursing, Advanced Asthma Management, Advanced Diabetes Care, Breast and Cervical Screening, and Family Planning and Reproductive Sexual Health Care. She ran a nurse-led Diabetes clinic in Macclesfield for several years and also worked as a triage nurse at the Out of Hours Centre in Macclesfield. In 2004 she further extended her clinical knowledge and skills by becoming an Independent Nurse Prescriber, and in 2007 completed a BSc Nurse Practitioner degree at Lancaster University.
Amanda's primary role is working alongside the GPs in diagnosing and treating undifferentiated medical conditions and minor illness. She is able to prescribe a wide range of medications and order investigations and tests within her range of expertise. She offers morning and afternoon surgeries with both emergency and pre-bookable appointments. Amanda has a keen interest in respiratory medicine and is the clinical lead for the surgery's Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) service. She is also the clinical lead for the Chlamydia Screening Programme, and offers a contraception service including the insertion of contraceptive implants.

Sister Catherine Chadwick
Practice Nurse
Sister Chadwick after qualifying initially worked on general surgical wards before moving to St Ann’s Hospice, Heald Green for 5 years. Here she gained qualifications in palliative care nursing and counseling. Since 1990 she has been a Practice Nurse, first based in Wilmslow and joining Priorslegh in 2008.
Over this period she developed her practice nurse role, and completed the BSc (Hons) Community Specialist Practice Qualification (General Practice Nursing Pathway) in 2006. She has also worked part-time as an East Cheshire PCT Epilepsy Link Practice Nurse and as a British Heart Foundation Nurse. Her current specialisms are wound care management at Priorslegh which includes assisting Dr Morelli in minor surgery and she is a member of the Childhood Immunisation team working alongside Sr Dougan. In her general clinics she does health checks, gives injections, performs ECGs, lung function tests, syringing ears, taking smear tests, swabs and blood tests.

Sister Rachel Dougan
Triage Nurse
Sister Dougan originally started out her nursing career in hospital and worked for 18 years in the Accident and Emergency Department. There she gained qualifications in major trauma and telephone triage amongst others and qualified as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner.
She was one of the first team of nurses to work in the Out of Hours at Macclesfield Hospital and went to work at Knutsford Hospital in a "satelite" OOH service.
She then moved to work in Intermediate Care and was a Discharge Liason Team Leader, managing a team of nurses and working with a multidiscliplinary care team including social workers, district nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
She subsequently moved on to become a practice nurse, first in Knutsford and Congelton and joined Priorslegh in 2010.
Her primary role is predominantly with telephone triage at Priorslegh which incorporates all of her above experience and knowledge to date.

Sister Ruth Holligworth
Practice Nurse
Sister Hollingworth qualified as a state registered nurse in 1978 at Manchester Royal Infirmary. After having a family she started working at the Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle in 1984 and gained experience working in Gynaecology. Sister Hollingworth began working as a Practice Nurse in Stockport in 1989 for two years, when practice nursing was relatively new, before joining Priorslegh in 1991 to the present day.
During this time, Sister Hollingworth has acquired diplomas in Family Planning, Cervical Screening, Asthma, Cardio Vascular Disease and levels 2 and 3 in Diabetes. She specialises in Well Women, Family Planning and Asthma as well as Diabetes support, dressings, ear syringing, injections, blood pressure monitoring and other practice nursing duties. She also manages the Nursing Team.
Recently, she has used her many years of experience in encouraging patients to adopt a healthier lifestyle, by offering a twelve week Healthy Lifestyle Course to patients who need to lose excess weight and which has ultimately led to health problems. The third and fourth groups are currently running and those who have attended have had great success in achieving weight loss.

Sister Charlotte Hughes
Practice Nurse
After qualifying as a registered general nurse in 2005 Charlotte Hughes returned to work in the Emergency Department at Wythenshawe hospital where she had worked for a number of years as a health care assistant. Here she gained experience of nursing people who were acutely unwell and completed the advanced life support course. She also completed training in triage, ECGs, venepuncture, wound assessment and dressings and the assessment of minor limb injuries.
Since joining Priorslegh in 2013, cervical screening, contraception reviews, and cardiovascular risk assessments and has recently completed her Asthma Diploma and conducts annual asthma reviews.
Charlotte has developed her role from Treatment Room Nurse, to Practice Nurse. In addition to her existing skills above, she is now able to perform cervical screening, contraception reviews and cardiovascular risk assessments and has recently completed her Asthma Diploma.

Sister Michelle Jennings
Diabetes Specialist Nurse
Michele works to help provide specialist care to our Diabetic Patients. She has an extensive background in Diabetes have worked for many years in Secondary Care both in South Manchester and East Cheshire. She qualified as a Nurse Consultant in Diabetes in 2005.
Michele joined Priorslegh in 2007 and works two days a week. She has very specialist skills which allow us to provide an excellent standard of treatment for our Diabetic patients.
