Dr Janet Awe

Dental Practitioner

Janet has been with Obex Dental for 10 years, and moved over to the Houghton Regis Dental Centre in 2015. Having qualified in 1984 in Nigeria she has been a long practicing dentist. In 2002 Janet passed the IQE statutory exam and joined the UK GDC register. Janet enjoys all aspects of dentistry and has dedicated time to training and supporting foundation dentists all throughout her career as a vocational trainer for the east of England scheme.

Dr Rohini babber

Orthodontist

Rohini graduated from Guy’s and St Thomas’ in 2013 and has since gained considerable experience in a number of mostly private practices. She is a member of The British Orthodontic Society, The European Orthodontic Society and the British Lingual Society. Rohini has been a Specialist in Orthodontics since 2013, and uses her expertise to treat older children and adults using a variety of different appliances, including fixed braces, lingual braces and clear aligners. Patient care is hugely important to Rohini, and she prides herself on being friendly and easy to talk to. She wants her patients to feel free to raise any concerns and aims to provide a relaxed, comfortable treatment experience. She is dedicated to giving her patients the best possible outcome, taking into account their lifestyles, their expectations and how orthodontic treatment will affect the appearance of their whole face.

Dr Abida Fazal

Dental Practitioner

Since qualifying from King’s College London in 2011 with BDS (Hons), Abida has worked continuously in general dental practice. Her interests are in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, and she completed a MJDF qualification in 2012 and a certificate in Restorative Dental Practice at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute in 2015. Abida has also undertaken a course in cosmetic tooth alignment and is able to carry out simple orthodontic cases.

Dhivina Ladd

Dental Hygienist Therapist

Dhivina Lad started working as a dental hygienist and therapist for Obex Dental in 2016. Dhivina is passionate about dentistry and completed her studies in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy at The University of Sheffield in 2016, where she was awarded the South Yorkshire prize for paediatric dentistry. Prior to this she achieved an honours degree in Biomedical Science and a Diploma in Dental Nursing. Whilst at Sheffield University, Dhivina also conducted charitable clinical work in India providing ART (atraumatic restorative technique) to children.  Dhivina works hard to build rapport with her patients and to gain their trust. She excels in treating patients with dental anxiety due to her caring and gentle approach. Dhivina believes that prevention is better than cure and educates her patients on optimal oral hygiene, which regularly results in beautiful smiles. To ensure patients are always receiving the best care. Dhivina likes to keep up to date with evidence-based dentistry by attending regular professional development courses .

Dr Vindhya Mahawatte

Dental Practitioner

Vindhya qualified in Sri Lanka in 1999 and received her IQE qualification in 2005, the same year she started with Obex. At 12 years Vindhya is the companies longest serving dentist and a valued member of the Houghton Regis Dental Centre team. Vindhya has a special interest in dealing with nervous patients and a smooth patient journey.

Rooshi always likes to take the time to get to know his patients which he believes is vitally important if they are going to have a comfortable and trusted environment for any dental treatment.

Dr Ashni Shah

After qualifying from the University of Bristol, Ashni completed her foundation training in a general dental practice. From there she worked in a hospital oral and maxillofacial surgery department for a year, honing her surgical skills and developing experience in trauma management. Ashni joined the Houghton Regis Dental Centre in 2016 and has since received the membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery award.
