Dr Shazia Ovaisi

Dr Ovaisi qualified from Barts and The London Hospital in 2002.  After successfully completing a medical rotation at Kings College London and obtaining her Membership of The Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), Dr Ovaisi decided to pursue a career in General Practice. She has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Dermatology (at Barts) and is a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).

In addition to her clinical work, she has been awarded a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Academic Fellowship; this combines a Masters in Public Health at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine with Stroke Research at St George’s University of London.

Shazia has volunteered with an NGO in Kashmir following the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan and most recently she worked on a social action project in a rural healthcare centre in Rwanda.

Dr Eva Liu

Born and bred in north London, Eva went up to the Midlands for university and graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 2012 with MbChB with first degree honours. As part of her medical degree, she has been able to spend some time working in Savusavu, Fiji and travelled around New Zealand where she is keen to go back to.

She completed her foundation medical training there before moving back to London in 2014 and commencing her GP training.

She joined Thurleigh Road Practice in August 2016 as a GP registrar and moved to a salaried GP role in July 2017

Dr James Esdon

After this he worked in A&E in Guildford (his birthplace) for a year before experiencing A&E in Sydney, Australia as a trainee for a further year.  Returning to London he completed his GP training before becoming regular locum at Thurleigh Road.

After getting married and travelling through South America, he became a permanent member of the team in January 2019.

Nurse Practitioner

Tor qualified at the Middlesex Hospital in 1989. From here she worked in a number of London hospitals in various roles within oncology and haematology. These included, amongst other, bone marrow transplantation, a chemotherapy day unit and within research. After doing a degree in Social Anthropology, Tor then started working with drugs users and their families. She has 3 children and lives locally.  Tor has recently completed Advanced Nurse Practitioner training.

Jo is the senior practice nurse/nurse practitioner. She qualified at St. Thomas’ Hospital in 1977. She is married with six children, lives locally and has worked in general practice for 16 years. After qualifying, Jo worked in a busy oncology unit in Australia before returning to become ward Sister on the ENT and orthopaedic wards at St. Thomas’. Jo was Sister in Charge at the opening of the Lister Hospital in 1986. Jo runs daily minor illness clinics at the Practice.

Since then has worked in A&E/urgent assessment units in Manchester to then work in Australia for a year before joining general practice. Sophia has now been in general practice for over two years and joined Thurleigh Practice in 2018.

Jen lives in South London with her husband and son. She studied modern languages at university before doing her nursing degree. Practice Manager

Sandra Reeves has worked in NHS management since 1992. She was a business manager at Kings College Hospital in Pathology and then Paediatrics before joining the Thurleigh Road Practice in 1996 as Practice Manager. During her time at the practice, Sandra has completed an MSc in Health Service Management and has successfully led the practice to achieve Investors in People status. Sandra manages all non-clinical aspects of the practice with particular involvement in staff, business and financial management. She is married with two daughters. She became a partner at the practice in 2006.

Shushma has over 25 years of General Practice management experience as a Practice Manager, with excellent communication and organisational skills to lead our Admin & Reception team.  She has AMSPAR in Practice Mangement and BA (Hons) in Business qualifications. Shushma provides support in facilities managment and liaising with external contractors. She also supports Felicity and works alongside with Sandra and looks after human resources (HR).

All newborn babies are seen when they are 8 weeks’ old for a full developmental check by a GP. A practice nurse will then check the baby’s growth and give the first immunisations. For your convenience, we combine this baby check with the mother’s post-natal check up.
Health visitors carry out ‘8 month checks’ by appointment on Thursday afternoons at the surgery, followed by a walk-in baby clinic for weighing and general advice from 2.00 – 3.30 pm.
The Senior Clinical Administrator will arrange these appointment for you.
