Services
Anticoagulant monitoring and dosing - provided in-houseWe are extremely fortunate to have nurse Rachel Oughton leading on anticoagulation at the Cloister Rd surgery. Rachel has many years experience working for the GP Federation as lead nurse and quality assurance officer for anticoagulation. As well as being an expert on anything to do with anticoagulation, she is a very approachable and warm clinician. Rachel is at the surgery once a week and can help support patients considering anticoagulation or struggling with any aspect of their anticoagulation treatment. Our whole team of receptionists, nurses, HCAs and doctors are geared towards facilitating warfarin monitoring and in line with current guidance we also offer direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) therapies. We recognise that taking anticoagulant treatment can be life changing for patients and their loved ones and we are dedicated to facilitating your journey if at all positive.
Asthma ClinicWe have been working with Asthma UK and the lead asthma specialist nurse for Ealing to improve our asthma services, especially for children. We now offer an appointment with a doctor within 48 hours after a patient is seen in A&E or admitted to hospital due to their asthma. We are also making every effort to ensure that patients with asthma have an asthma plan which is updated yearly. Please contact us to book an asthma review with the nurse if you have asthma, but you do not have an asthma plan.
Child ImmunisationsHormonal injections/implants - contraception
Both our nurses Rachel Oughton and Alice Wong have extensive experience of contraception. Please book with the nurse for a pill check or depot injection. Our clinicians are able to remove coils as long as there has not been any risk of pregnancy in the last 7 days. Unfortunately we are not able to fit coils and implants at the moment. If you would like a coil or implant for contraceptive purposes you can contact the Mattock Lane clinic on 020 3255 0084 - Monday to Friday, 9am to 12noon. If you would like a coil for another reason, you will need a GP letter and an ultrasound scan before booking in with Mattock Lane and our doctors will be happy to organise this.
Joint injectionsJoint injections can be very helpful in certain circumstances but they are not always advisable. All our doctors can assess your need for an injection and advise whether you are eligible to be added to the joint injection waiting list. Currently Dr Dhall is our clinician performing joint injections.
Learning disability health checkWe are very keen to be accessible to patients with learning disabilities and their carers. Please let us know if you need a longer appointment or a specific adjustment to make allowance for a disability. Dr Gubert has completed makaton core vocabulary training and will be happy to use makaton within a consultation.
Minor surgery (e.g. removal of moles and skin lesions) - provided in-houseDr Dhall has been doing minor surgery at the practice since 2009 and has previous surgical experience in the field of gynaecology. She has vast experience of removing skin lesions such as sebaceous cysts prone to infection, skin tags / seborrheoic warts that are repeatedly catching or causing pain. This service is for removal of skin lesions which are causing significant symptoms. We can only remove lesions that meet the Ealing CCG criteria for minor surgery in general practice. We are not able to remove lesions for cosmetic purposes. If you think you might benefit from minor surgery, you can talk to any doctor at the practice and they will assess whether or not you are eligible to be added to our minor surgery waiting list.
PhlebotomyWe are fortunate in having three members of staff fully trained to run our adult phlebotomy clinics: Debra, Sheuli and Monika. Our health care assistant Debra has also been trained to take bloods from children age 3.5 over. There is also a walk-in phlebotomy service at Ealing Hospital available to patients from Monday to Friday, 8am to 3.45pm only. All our samples are processed at Hillingdon hospital.
Travel health with yellow feverPlease book an appointment with the nurse and not a doctor if you think you may need antimalarial medication or vaccination for travel purposes. Please bring any evidence of previous vaccinations you may have and make sure the appointment is at least 6 weeks before your departure in case you need a course of vaccination. You also have the option of booking directly with a travel clinic.
