Ms Basra (or Pretty for short) has joined us from the beginning of 2015 and has a rich, diverse background in the Optometry field, covering a variety of positions.
Pretty started her career at Leicester Royal Infirmary, before taking up a position at the prestigious Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. She is currently combining her work as an Optometrist with carrying out research for her thesis on Children’s Vision Screening, an area she is hugely passionate about. Indeed, her specialist field is Paediatrics. She is currently in the process of completing her doctorate… it’s going to be a busy year for her!
In addition, Pretty works tirelessly to help develop and represent eyecare across all walks of life. She has supervised undergraduate Optometry students at the University of Bradford. She has also completed Vision Aid Overseas trips to Botswana and Zambia to deliver training to students who have no access to Optometry teaching. She is also an Ophthalmic Public Health Ambassador for the Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) and has obtained a Diploma in Diabetic Retinopathy Screening.
