Staff

At ILA we place the utmost importance in ensuring a high calibre of support staff who are not only equipped with the necessary training and knowledge, but also possess the right vision and values to enable them to provide high quality, person centred support which promotes independence, choice, dignity and respect.

We employ a number of specialist staff across the organisation including qualified social workers, registered learning disability nurses, registered mental health nurses, acquired brain injury specialists and autism specialists and support all new and existing staff to undertake qualifications which will enhance their ability to deliver high quality support.

Karen Jones

Regional Director

Karen Jones is the Regional Director for Independent Living Alliance.

Karen has over 25 years experience in social care, working within both the local authority and private sectors supporting people with a range of needs including learning disabilities and mental health needs.

Prior to joining ILA, Karen spent 10 years working for Social Services in North Wales providing support to adults with learning disabilities and also spend sa number of years as a Residential Care Homes Manager supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and other complex needs, including people with a high risk forensic background.

Mike Barton

Area Manager

Mike Barton is the Area Manager for ILA.

Mike has worked in the health & social care sector for 25 years in both the UK & Ireland and held management positions for the past 23 years. This has included working with children and adults with a range of needs including  learning disabilities, mental health needs, complex needs and Autism.

Prior to joining ILA, Mike spent 10 years working for a national charity in Ireland as an Area Manager supporting and developing services in rural and urban locations and as a Registered Manager for supported living services services in Liverpool & Warrington.

Mike also has a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care

Support Team

Support Workers and Team Leaders

We handpick our support workers and team leaders and use staff matching techniques to ensure that they meet the needs of the people they will be supporting. Our support staff are all fully trained and inducted and are supported to undertake an NVQ 2 award upon offer of employment. Team Leaders are also obliged to undertake an NVQ 3 qualification.

Our support workers are based at services on a full-time basis and are supervised by Team Leaders, who are also based in services. Support staff can be provided on a 24/7 basis, including waking night support depending on the needs of the individual.
