Asthma Clinic - Asthma ManagementPatients with asthma can make an appointment for advice and support (including checks on how effectively you are using your inhaler) from our practice nurse Michelle Cairns who specialises in asthma.
Please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment.
The surgery provides a baby clinic on a Wednesday at Kenton Medical Centre between 1.30pm - 3.00pm. This is a drop-in clinic where no appointments to see the Health Visitor are required.
Babies and pre school children can attend the weekly clinics. This is where infants and youn children can have their feeding, growth, behaviour and development monitored by the health visitor.
The health visitor can also sometime provide support for parents of pre school children who may be experiencing difficulties.
Immunisations are carried out by the practice nurse in this clinic for babies and pre school infants.
PLEASE NOTE THIS CLINIC IS FOR WELL BABIES AND INFANTS. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE A DOCTOR FOR ANY AILMENTS UNLESS PRE BOOKED.
Patients with COPD will be reviewed every year for support, advice and checks to see how effectively you are using any inhalers with our practice nurse Michelle Cairns who specialises in COPD.
If you have any problems inbetween your recall please contact the surgery for an appointment.
Patients with diabetes will be reviewed in the chronic disease clinic on a yearly basis with our practice nurse Angela Wall who specialises in diabetes.

Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC - eg IUD or implant)
We offer a full range of contaception services, including fitting of intra-uterine devices (coils).
Please make an appointment with Dr Black to discuss this further.

Dr Black and Dr Kerry undertake minor surgical procedures under local anaesthetic. The following procedures are performed in the surgery.
. Excision of skin tags
. Excision of cysts or lumps
. Crotherapy to warts
. Cruette of warts
. In-growing toenail surgery
. Joint injections
. Removal of skin moles causing irritation.
Appointments should be be ideally made with Dr Black or Dr Kerry for initial assessment but can also be done through your regular doctor.
Most of these procedures are done under local anaesthesia. If you have any allergies please indicate this to the doctor at the time.
Where appropriate a tissue or a biopsy will be sent to the hospital for histology. Results can be obtained by telephoning the surgery two weeks after the procedure. If sutures need to be removed, an appointment will be arranged with the practice or district nurse.

Obesity management clinic - Weight Management ClinicWe offer a weight management service to help those wishing to lose weight. Please ask to make an appointment with our healthcare assistant or practice nurse.
Advice regarding healthy eating and exercise will be given. If appropriate you may be given a prescription for medication to help you lose weight. You may also be referred to outside services which may be able to assist you also.
The surgery has a vast range of different counsellors providing clinics at the surgery which include psychiatrist and drug counsellors who can hel people with a wide range of emotional, mental health problems and relational problems.
To arrange a referral please make an appointment with your doctor.
Alternatively Newcastle Talking Therapies offer counselling for people dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, anger, fears, bereavement and relationship problems. You can be referred to this service by your doctor or you can self refer by phoning them directly on 03005551115.
