Services
Asthma ClinicPatients who have asthma are invited to an annual check up. If their symptoms are more troublesome, they are monitored at more regular intervals. Our practice nurses work closely with the GPs in the management of these patients, though members of our Nursing Team have specialist qualifications, knowledge, skills and expertise in respiratory conditions.
Baby clinic with health visitorThis Health Visitor-led service is run on the community room at the Oak Tree Centre on Thursday mornings from 9 - 11. Your baby's growth can be assessed and you can discuss your baby's development directly with the Health Visitor. For details of other local baby clinics, please contact the health visiting team directly on 0300 029 50 50 option 3.
Child health and developmentRoutine child development checks are performed by the GPs at 6 weeks and 8 months of age. A further assessment is made at 2.5 years by the health visiting team.
If you have any concerns about your child's development the health visitors and GPs are of course happy to discuss this during other appointments.
Routine audiology (hearing) tests are performed at birth at the Maternity Unit.
Childhood immunisations are performed by our Practice Nurse. You will receive a letter from the Child Health Department automatically when your child is due a vaccination

The newly-developed HPV vaccines to prevent cervical cancer are delivered by the school nursing team.

Learning disability health checkWe offer an annual health check to all our patients who have a learning disability to ensure their health is maintained. For some patients, these are carried out at their place of residence. We work closely with the Learning Disability Team and undergo training to ensure our staff have the necessary skills in place to deliver the best service to these patients.
Minor surgery (e.g. removal of moles and skin lesions) - provided in-house - Minor SurgerySeveral of our clinicians are trained in minor surgery techniques including injection of joints or tendons. You must see a GP before you can be referred. We are only commissioned to deal with certain procedures on the NHS.

PhlebotomyFor our patient's convenience, we offer a blood taking (phlebotomy) service from the Practice. One of our doctors or nurses must organise the blood tests for you. Please check with reception about the timing of your blood test, as in some cases a fasting sample is required.

Primary care counselling service - PRISM - mental health serviceWe are fortunate to have a dedicated Nurse at the Practice who specialises in mental heatlh. Patients can be referred by one of our clinicians to see the PRISM nurse here at the Surgery. Patients can be supported with anxiety, depression, emotional support and other mental health related issues.

Smoking cessation clinicWe appreciate that giving up cigarettes can be very difficult and, along with the CAMQUIT team are committed to helping you stop. We are able to prescribe nicotine replacement (patches, inhalators, chewing gum etc) if it is felt to be appropriate. Please speak to a member of staff for more information about how to contact CAMQUIT stop smoking service. Sessions are held at the Oak Tree Centre.
Travel health with yellow fever - Travel HealthWe are no longer a YELLOW FEVER CLINIC. Please speak to receptionist about your travel destination as soon as possible. It may take several weeks to complete a full course of vaccinations. Therefore we strongly recommend booking your appointment AT LEAST 8 weeks before travel. However, we appreciate that some journeys are made at short notice, and and if we are not able to accommodate your urgent request we advise you contact the local Travel Clinic on 01223 367362
